Iyanla Vanzant, Visionary, Inspirational Speaker to lecture in Fort Collins May 19

Saturday, May 3rd @ 4:44 PMpost viewed 147 times

Some people will tell you that Iyanla Vanzant (pronounced E-Yan-La) is a speaker in a class all her own. A dynamic, powerful and positive, larger-than-life personality, she passionately delivers her special brand of empowerment and inspiration with frank down-to-earth humor and compassion.

Some say Iyanla is not a speaker; she is a teacher. Her work, she says, "Teaches people how to move beyond whatever has happened in their lives in order to do and be what we came to life to do and be. We are divine!" Iyanla teaches that you cannot expect to evolve politically, socially or economically until you evolve spiritually.

Still others will say that Iyanla Vanzant is a spiritual visionary. Her commitment to the spiritual evolution of humanity—particularly women and children—is evidenced by her tireless efforts on their behalf. "The best I can do for others is to provide them with an example of how life works." The efficacy of her message is evidenced by the way she lives her life, offering hope and inspiration to people of all ages, races and nations.

Iyanla would say she is a grandmother, a shoe fanatic (After all, she does own 80 pairs of shoes.), inspiring Diva and a down-home “folk.”

So, just who is Iyanla Vanzant?

Iyanla Vanzant is an ordained minister, lawyer and spiritual life counselor and a frequent guest on the "Oprah Winfrey Show." The award-winning author of five New York Times best-sellers, including Acts of Faith, One Day My Soul Just Opened Up, and In the Meantime, Vanzant facilitates workshops nationally with a mission to assist in the empowerment of men and women. Praised by Los Angeles mayor Tom Bradley as "an inspiration to all women," her stories of personal struggle and victory as a battered wife and teenage welfare mother have touched millions. Someone once called her, "A guru from the hood." Iyanla laughs as she responds to the question. "I used to be just another Black woman, but today, I am a child of God! This means I am unique, but I am not special. I am an ordinary person who is dedicated to doing extra ordinary things in the service of God and God’s people." She is hailed as one of the most dynamic African-America woman speakers in the country.

Iyanla shares her enthusiasm and wisdom in a rare Colorado appearance at the Fort Collins Lincoln Center on Monday, May 19 at 7pm. Opening for Iyanla will be the dynamic Abyssinian Christian Church Adult Choir, with a joyful blend of music, energy and spirit. Tickets for the event are $27 - $37 and can be purchased through the Lincoln Center Box Office at 970-221-6730 or www.lctix.com.
